Marv Herzog Songs of Faith

Marv Herzog's thirty-second recording in 1999 features an array of talent. He and his two sisters, Lynn and Verna, regrouped "The Herzog Trio" to sing a number of songs they performed in the 1950's, such as "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", "In The Garden" and "Lord Take My Hand and Lead Me". Marv sings with his wife Teresa, on "Just a Closer Walk With Thee", daughter Lisa and Teresa sing several songs, "One Day At A Time", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman" and "Church In The Wildwood" and Lisa shines on "Amazing Grace". All these songs and more are showcased on this predominantly vocal album. There are a number of German songs and some old as well as current English songs, interspersed with a few instrumentals. The album cover depicts the stained glass windows of St Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth where Marv was a member all his life. This was the final recording Marv produced and shows the range of his talent, from happy polkas and slow waltzes to melodic church music. This recording has become a favorite and adds a delightful dimension to a collection of religious music.
