Marv Herzog Live At The 2002 Summer Music Fest

0Marv Herzog's thirty-third recording in 2002 was released by his widow Teresa on August 9, 2003 on what would have been Marv's 71st birthday. In May 2001, Marv was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and told he had 4-6 months to live. Prayer chains were set in motion around the world and Marv was granted the gift of life another 18 months. At the Summer Music Fest in 2002, knowing it would probably be his last one, Numark Recording Studio in Shelby Township, Michigan, recorded every song the band played and every word Marv spoke on stage over the course of the nine day event in Frankenmuth. Teresa listened to all of them, and with the assistance of the editing engineers, compiled this 2-cd set as a final tribute to her husband. His theme song "Golden Pheasant" starts it off, with "Wooden Heart", "Blue Skirt Waltz", "Autumn Love", "Tiny Bubbles", and the "Orange Blossom Special" adding a special spark. Proceeds from the sale of this recording will benefit the "Marv Herzog Music Scholarship Fund" that Teresa set up in Marv's name to help music students. The album cover depicts Marv in a photo taken before he became ill and captures the essence of his personality with his quick wit and infectious laughter that are evident as you listen to this 'live' recording.
